i've stared at it for some time... is it a slicer? and you went around it with the camera or a mirror or.... how'd you do it?

yeah, its a slicer/grinder.

i made a small rotating platform with a motor. i then slowly rotated the grinder while filming it with the camera on my laptop. Instead of saving the whole video, i only used the middle column of pixels from each frame and put them next to each other to make the image. The technique is called slit-scan because when its done with an analog camera you use a 'mask' with a slit to expose the image gradually.
